About the event
For many young queers summer camp was a way to explore their sexuality while away from their parents and their normal lives, surrounded by their peers that excited them. In this space they could figure out who they were.
But coming out isn't always great. Even with this oppurtunity to explore young queers still faced stigma and shame.
Pride in the Pines is all about this experience and combines the experience of summer camp through horror elements in the burlesque and drag mediums. You can expect a night of storytelling, of gay pride but also shame. You can expect to aroused and excited but also uncomfortable and sick. This show will put you in the experience of what it means to be a queer in summer camp.
